What does metastable mean?

It’s a physics term, see the Wikipedia article on metastability. This blog used to be called kmeme, but I renamed it to metastable in 2022.

What do you write about?

I look to the future because that’s where I’m going to spend the rest of my life.

George Burns

Why do you write?

Ideas cause ideas and help evolve new ideas. They interact with each other and with other mental forces in the same brain, in neighboring brains, and in distant foreign brains.

Roger Sperry
Mind, Brain, and Humanist Values, 1965.

Where do your ideas come from?

I am certain that, because of my weak memory and failure to make proper notes, this blog presents, as if they were my ideas, many claims or arguments that I ought to attribute to some source.

Derek Parfit
Reasons and Persons, 1984.
